No. You can use FinzoLab without connecting a bank. Free features like lessons, daily quizzes, the Budget Planner, and Finzo AI chat (with daily limits) work without a bank link. Connecting a bank unlocks personalized insights in Wallet and is available on paid plans.

Getting Started
Onboarding, first steps, and using FinzoLab with or without a bank connection.
Yes. You can learn, take daily quizzes, plan a budget, chat with Finzo AI, complete quests, and track your XP and ranks — all without linking a bank. Bank connection is optional and mainly powers Wallet insights and deeper AI analysis.
Start with the Financial Type quiz if you have not finished it yet — it personalizes your Home experience and starting rank. Then explore Home, try a lesson from Learn, and take today's daily quiz. You can connect a bank later from Home or Settings if you are on a plan that includes it.
Without a bank, you can complete lessons and chapters, earn XP and gems, build streaks, use the Budget Planner, read financial news, chat with Finzo AI (within your daily limit), take daily quizzes, complete quests, and browse the Shop. Wallet insights that depend on real transaction data need a connected bank.
Yes. You can connect whenever you are ready. On eligible plans, go to Home or Settings → Bank Connection and follow the TrueLayer flow. Nothing you have already learned or earned is lost if you connect later.
FinzoLab links your account through TrueLayer with read-only access. We sync balances and transactions so Wallet can show spending insights, health scores, and patterns. Your bank login is handled by TrueLayer — FinzoLab does not store your bank password. Sync may take a moment after you connect.
Account & Settings
Profile, email, password, preferences, and deleting your account.
Open Settings and find the Profile section. Update your display name and save. Your name appears on your profile, certificates, and in parts of the app that greet you by name.
Email is tied to your sign-in account. If you need to change it, contact us through the Contact page with your current and new email so we can help update it safely.
If you are signed in, go to Settings → Password, enter a new password twice, and save. If you cannot sign in, use the forgot-password flow on the Login page to receive a reset link by email.
Most account options live in Settings: display name, password, theme, bank connection, and subscription. Your learning progress, ranks, and achievements are on your Profile and in Learn.
Open Settings and use the Theme selector to choose Light, Dark, or System. System follows your device preference. The change applies across FinzoLab right away.
Go to Settings, scroll to the danger zone, and choose Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm — deletion is permanent and signs you out immediately. Your profile data is removed; disconnect your bank first if you want to stop syncing before deleting.
Learning
Lessons, XP, ranks, streaks, gems, progress, and certificates.
You earn XP by completing lessons, daily quizzes, and other learning activities. Lesson XP depends on your performance and current rank. You also get bonus XP for perfect scores. Your total XP determines your level and rank progression.
XP is awarded when a lesson is fully completed and your result is saved. If you left early, lost connection, or the lesson did not register as complete, XP may not apply. Try refreshing Home or Learn — if progress still looks wrong after a few minutes, see Troubleshooting.
Your streak counts consecutive days you stay active in FinzoLab (for example by completing learning activities). Missing a day can break your streak unless you use a streak freeze from the Shop. You can see your current streak on Home and Profile.
FinzoLab marks the lesson complete, awards XP, and may grant gems for a perfect score. Your chapter progress updates, and the next lesson may unlock based on your rank. Some lessons also count toward FinzoLab certificates on eligible plans.
Gems are earned from daily quizzes (+5) and perfect lessons (+3). Spend them in the Shop on streak freezes, Double XP, and Unlimited Energy to keep your learning momentum going.
Many lessons unlock as your rank increases — keep learning and earning XP to level up. Some starter lessons are available from day one. Premium lessons on the Premium and Ultimate plans are unlocked with your subscription. Check Learn → Chapters to see what is available at your rank.
Yes. You can open a completed lesson again to practice. Replaying may not award the same XP as your first completion, but it is a good way to reinforce what you learned.
Ranks are milestone titles that reflect your learning progress — from early ranks like Piggy Banker up to Financial Final Boss at rank 16. Each rank spans multiple levels and comes with its own title. Higher ranks unlock more lessons. Daily quiz difficulty starts from your Financial Type quiz knowledge score and can get harder as you complete more lessons.
Progress usually updates within seconds after finishing a lesson or quiz. If it does not, refresh the page or sign out and back in. Make sure you reached the lesson results screen. Persistent issues are often fixed by a refresh — see Troubleshooting if it continues.
On Premium and Ultimate plans, you can earn verified FinzoLab certificates by mastering key topics. Certificates appear in your Achievements and can be shared with a public verification link. They reflect real lesson mastery, not just starting a course.
Lessons use an energy system so pacing stays manageable. When energy runs low, wait for it to refill over time or use gems in the Shop for Unlimited Energy. Completing lessons without losing energy also counts toward some quests.
Bank Connections
Connecting banks, security, syncing, and disconnecting accounts.
FinzoLab connects through TrueLayer, a regulated open-banking provider. Access is read-only — we can view balances and transactions to power insights, not move money. Connection tokens are stored server-side. As with any online service, use a strong FinzoLab password and only connect on devices you trust.
With your permission, FinzoLab can access account details, balances, and transactions needed for Wallet insights, budgeting, and AI analysis. We do not receive your bank login password. You can review your connection status and last sync time in Settings.
No. Bank login happens on TrueLayer's secure flow. FinzoLab receives access tokens to read account data, not your banking credentials. Tokens stay server-side and can be revoked when you disconnect.
No. Bank connections use read-only access. FinzoLab cannot initiate payments, transfers, or withdrawals from your linked accounts.
Not every account type is always available through open banking. Some savings, joint, or business accounts may not appear. Try syncing again from Settings. If an account is still missing, it may not be supported for your institution yet.
Transactions can take time to appear after a sync — banks and providers do not always update instantly. Open Settings → Bank Connection and tap Sync to refresh. Very recent purchases may show up on the next sync cycle.
Go to Settings → Bank Connection and choose Disconnect. FinzoLab stops syncing new data and removes stored access tokens. Previously synced transaction history remains unless you delete your account.
Bank connections are coming soon. When available, they will be offered on Ultimate. Free and Premium do not include bank connection.
Sync can pause if your bank requires re-authorization, during maintenance, or after a connection error. Try Sync in Settings, then disconnect and reconnect if needed. Check that your subscription still includes bank connection.
Bank connections are coming soon on Ultimate. Check Pricing for the latest plan details. Until then, you can use Wallet and other features without linking a bank.
Finzo AI
Chatting with Finzo AI, spending questions, limits, and accuracy.
Finzo AI can explain financial concepts, help with lessons, discuss budgeting ideas, and — on plans with the right features — analyze your spending and transactions. Open Finzo AI from the app nav and type a question in plain language.
When bank connections launch on Ultimate, Finzo AI can use connected bank data for personalized answers about spending patterns and transactions. Without a bank connection, Finzo AI can still help with general financial education and budgeting concepts on Premium and Ultimate.
When bank analysis is available on your plan and your bank is connected, Finzo AI can reference synced transactions to answer relevant questions. It only uses data you have authorized through your bank connection.
Yes, when your bank is connected and analysis features are enabled. Describe the merchant, amount, or date and Finzo AI will try to match it to your synced history. Results depend on how recently that transaction synced.
Finzo AI can compare categories and highlight patterns when it has access to your transaction data. Answers are AI-generated summaries — useful for reflection, not a formal audit. Check Wallet for the underlying numbers.
Common reasons: you hit your daily chat limit, the question needs bank data but no bank is connected, the feature requires a paid plan, or the message was too long. Free plan includes 3 chats per day; Premium and Ultimate include more.
Finzo AI generates responses from models and available data — it can misread context, miss recent transactions, or oversimplify. Treat answers as helpful guidance, especially for numbers. Verify important details in Wallet or your bank app.
No. Finzo AI provides educational information and AI-generated insights. It is not a licensed financial adviser and should not replace professional advice for investments, tax, or major financial decisions.
Yes. Free plan includes 3 Finzo AI chats per UTC calendar day. Premium and Ultimate include 50 chats per day. When you reach the limit, you can try again tomorrow or upgrade for a higher allowance.
Financial Insights
Wallet insights, health scores, spending patterns, and subscriptions.
Your Financial Health Score in Wallet combines signals from your synced finances — like income, spending, savings rate, cash flow, and subscription load — into a score out of 100. Finzo analyzes your data and explains what is helping or hurting your score.
Scores update when new transactions sync or when your spending patterns shift. A large purchase, higher subscriptions, or improved savings can all move the number. Refresh your analysis in Wallet if you just connected or synced your bank.
Wallet compares your spending to your income and category trends. Alerts and watchouts flag when a category spikes or when spending outpaces income. Review the Spending and Patterns sections in Wallet for the specific reasons behind a warning.
Finzo groups synced transactions by category and merchant, then highlights the largest charges and top spending areas. These come from your actual transaction history, not estimates.
Finzo looks for recurring charges with similar amounts and intervals in your transaction history. Detected subscriptions appear in your Wallet analysis so you can spot commitments that are easy to forget.
Income trends depend on how deposits are categorized in synced transactions. Irregular pay, transfers labeled as income, or missing syncs can skew the chart. Check recent transactions and run a fresh sync if something looks off.
Categories are assigned automatically from merchant and transaction data. Unusual merchants or combined charges can be miscategorized. Insights still reflect the assigned category — future updates may improve matching as more data syncs.
Wallet uses categorized transactions from your connected bank. Spending Insights and category breakdowns show totals per category over time. Without a bank connection, these personalized views are not available.
Open Wallet from the main navigation. After your bank is connected and analysis runs, you will see sections for health, spending, patterns, alerts, and more. Some summaries also appear on Home when data is ready.
Budget
Creating budgets, tracking spending, categories, and overspending.
Go to Budget from the app nav. You can start from a quick preset or build your own plan by setting amounts per category. If your bank is connected, Finzo can help tailor suggestions from your spending history on eligible plans.
Finzo compares what you planned in each category to actual spending from synced transactions (or what you have entered). If real spending exceeds your budget line, that category shows as over. Adjust the budget or spending to align them.
Yes. Open Budget and edit category amounts anytime. Changes apply to your current plan going forward — they do not rewrite past months unless you create a new plan for a new period.
With a bank connection, spending totals come from synced and categorized transactions in the budget period. Without a bank, you rely on the amounts you set manually. The Budget view shows planned vs actual side by side when data is available.
Yes. Budgets are split by category — for example groceries, transport, and entertainment can each have their own limit. You can adjust individual categories without changing the whole plan.
News & Markets
Financial news, AI Market Picks, and market data updates.
The News section aggregates financial headlines and stories from external news sources. Articles are presented for awareness and learning — always read the original source for full context.
News feeds and market quotes refresh on a regular schedule, but prices and headlines can be delayed. The News page and market sections show the latest data available at load time — not live trading feeds.
News is curated for general financial relevance. AI Market Picks on Ultimate may layer AI analysis on top of selected instruments. Your learning progress does not filter headlines, but Finzo AI features may personalize deeper market views on eligible plans.
No. Market data and AI Market Picks are for informational and educational purposes only. They are not investment advice. Market prices may be delayed or inaccurate — do not rely on them for trading decisions.
AI market insights synthesize available data and can change as inputs update. They may be wrong or outdated. Use them to learn and explore ideas, not as a sole basis for buying or selling assets.
AI Market Picks regenerates when underlying prices, news, or model outputs shift. A BUY/HOLD/SELL style signal can change as new data arrives — that is expected for AI-generated analysis.
Plans & Billing
Free, Premium, and Ultimate plans, upgrades, cancellations, and payments.
Free includes your Financial Type quiz, personalized Home, daily quizzes, Budget Planner, access to free lessons (unlocking more as you rank up), and 3 Finzo AI chats per day. Bank connection and premium lessons are not included.
Premium unlocks all lessons, Finzo AI with budgeting and financial insights, and verified certificates. Ultimate adds advanced Finzo AI, AI-powered budgeting, advanced insights, AI Market Picks, and bank connections (coming soon). See Pricing for the full comparison.
Yes. In Settings → Subscription you can cancel at period end. You keep paid features until the current billing period finishes, then move to Free. You can undo cancellation before the period ends.
You keep Premium access until the paid period ends. After that, your account stays on Free — progress, XP, and gems remain, but premium features like all lessons, bank connection limits, and extra AI chats stop. You can resubscribe anytime from Pricing.
Paid plans (Premium or Ultimate) renew monthly or yearly depending on what you chose at checkout. Check Settings → Subscription for your plan, billing interval, and renewal date. Receipts are sent by the payment provider.
A failed renewal may pause Premium access after grace attempts. Update your payment method through the billing portal linked in Settings → Subscription. Once payment succeeds, Premium features should restore.
Yes. Visit Pricing or Settings → Subscription to move between Premium and Ultimate or change billing interval. Changes are handled through checkout and your subscription settings.
After checkout, it can take a short moment for your subscription to activate. Refresh the page or sign out and back in. If features are still missing after several minutes, contact us with your account email from the Contact page.
Privacy & Security
How your data is handled, bank access, and account deletion.
Transaction and balance data from connected banks is used to power Wallet, Budget, and AI features you use. Data is handled to operate the service — we do not sell your bank credentials. Disconnecting stops new syncs; deleting your account removes your profile data.
Your FinzoLab account data is private to you. Support staff may access limited information only when you contact us for help. Bank linking uses TrueLayer — review their policies for how authorization works on their side.
No. You authenticate with your bank through TrueLayer. FinzoLab stores connection tokens server-side to sync data, not your banking password.
No. Connections are read-only. FinzoLab cannot transfer money or make payments on your behalf.
Disconnect your bank in Settings to stop new syncs. To remove your FinzoLab profile, use Delete Account in Settings. That permanently deletes your account data and signs you out.
Deleting your account removes your FinzoLab profile and stored tokens. Access through TrueLayer is revoked as part of disconnection. Historical data tied to your account is removed with the deletion.
Troubleshooting
Fixing sync issues, XP problems, AI errors, and payment glitches.
Finish the lesson completely and wait a few seconds. Refresh Home or Learn. If XP is still wrong, sign out and back in. Check that you did not hit an energy limit mid-lesson. Contact us if the issue persists with the lesson name and time.
Streaks reset if you miss a day of activity without a streak freeze. Timezone boundaries matter — activity counts per calendar day in your account. A streak freeze from the Shop can protect you for one missed day.
Open Settings → Bank Connection and tap Sync. If that fails, disconnect and reconnect through TrueLayer when bank connections are available. Also confirm your Ultimate subscription is still active. Some banks periodically require re-authorization.
New transactions can lag behind your bank. Force a sync in Settings, then wait a few minutes and refresh Wallet. If nothing appears after 24 hours, try reconnecting your bank or contact us with your institution name.
Check your daily chat limit, internet connection, and message length. Sign out and back in if the chat is stuck. If you see an error repeatedly, try a shorter question or contact us with the time it happened.
Subscription activation can take a minute after checkout. Refresh or re-open Settings → Subscription. Confirm the payment email matches your FinzoLab account. If Premium still does not show after 15 minutes, contact us from the Contact page.
Hard refresh the page (or restart the app), check your connection, and try another browser. Clear site data only if you are signed in and remember your login. If a specific page fails, note the URL and contact us.
Stay signed in through the full lesson, including the results screen. Unstable connections can interrupt saves — retry on Wi-Fi. If one lesson is stuck, try another to see if the issue is global, then contact support.
